  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Provides a luscious and velvety texture to the sauce.
  • 5-6 pieces pepperoncini peppers Don’t forget to include some juice from the jar for extra tang.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for balancing flavors.
  • optional fresh parsley for garnish Adds a pop of color and freshness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of your crockpot in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and the au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
  • Place the stick of butter on top of the chicken.
  • Scatter the pepperoncini peppers over the chicken and drizzle some juice from the jar.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and select the low setting. Cook for 6-7 hours.
  • After cooking, shred the chicken directly in the crockpot with two forks and stir it into the gravy.
  • Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.

Serving

  • Serve the Crockpot Mississippi Chicken over rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread and garnish with parsley.

Notes

For best results, allow the shredded chicken to sit in the sauce for a few minutes before serving. Make sure to utilize the juice from the pepperoncini jar for added flavor.
